Netflix’s Cobra Kai season six will be the last one of the fan-beloved Karate Kid sequel series. At the Netflix Is a Joke Fest, the platform announced news for this upcoming final season, including a release date, and a new teaser, Comicbook.com reports. The teaser in question was released on Tuesday morning and it’s available to see below.
According to Comicbook.com, after releasing the teaser, Netflix has announced its strategy with episode release. Specifically, this upcoming season will include 15 episodes in total, which are divided in three different releases throughout 2024 and 2025. The first part will be released on July 18. A couple of months later, on November 28th, there will be the release of the second part. The final part will be released in 2025, even though a specific date hasn’t been confirmed.
The sixth season will see the two karate teams competing in a final karate world championship, according to Comicbook.com, after the events that unfolded in season five. The official synopsis of the sixth season of Cobra Kai is available here: “Picking up with Cobra Kai eliminated from the Valley, our senseis and students must decide if and how they will compete in the Sekai Taikai — the world championships of karate.”
A frequently asked question, according to Comicbook.com, is if the actress Hilary Swank (Million Dollar Baby, P.S. I Love You, The Homesman) will have an important role in the show somehow, even if we have reached the final season. Various lead actors from the Karate Kid movies have guest-starred on the show somehow, but The Next Karate Kid‘s Swank did not show up yet. Earlier this year, in an interview with Collider, Swank confirmed she won’t be appearing.
“I don’t think I am, unfortunately,” Swank explained, via Comicbook.com. “I know. It’s, like, the number one question I get right now. Most people usually say, ‘What’s it like working with Clint Eastwood?’ But I think, ‘Are you going to be on Cobra Kai has almost surpassed that?'”
Currently, all of Cobra Kai’s five seasons are currently streaming on Netflix.
