As The Gilded Age returns for its highly anticipated third season, fans can look forward to six new cast members and more drama, opulence, and societal clashes behind the backdrop of late 19th-century New York. According to Deadline, Dylan Baker (Good Wife, Hunters), Kate Baldwin (Hello, Dolly! Supergirl), Michael Cumpsty (Severance, Billions), John Ellison Conlee (Boardwalk Empire, The Deuce) Bobby Steggert (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Mad Men) and newcomer Hannah Shealy (Rose Tattoo, Law & Order: SVU) are the fresh faces joining the show.
The Gilded Age continues to chronicle the dramatic shifts of America’s Gilded Age, a time of profound economic and social change, where vast fortunes could be gained or lost in an instant. As the old guard is pushed aside, New York’s high society is upended, with everyone scrambling to secure their place in this new world. Yet, as the series unfolds, Deadline reports, even the most powerful figures may learn that the cost of progress is higher than they ever imagined.
According to Deadline, season three also introduces a diverse ensemble of fresh faces: Bill Camp (The Night Of, The Queen’s Gambit) as JP Morgan, Merritt Wever (Nurse Jackie and Unbelievable) as Monica O’Brien, Leslie Uggams (Empire, Roots) as Mrs. Ernestine Brown, Lisagay Hamilton (The Practice, House of Cards) as Frances Ellen Watkins Harper, Andrea Martin (My Big Fat Greek Wedding, Great News) as Madame Dashkova, Paul Alexander Nolan (Escape at Dannemora, Chicago Med) as Alfred Merrick, Hattie Morahan (Beauty and the Beast, The Bletchley Circle) as Lady Sarah Vere, and Jessica Frances Dukes (Ozark and Jessica Jones) as Athena Trumbo.
Under the helm of creator Julian Fellowes, the historical drama teams up with writer and executive producer Sonja Warfield (Will & Grace, Good Behavior), via Deadline. The show’s executive production dream team includes Gareth Neame (Downton Abbey, The Last Kingdom), David Crockett (Escape at Dannemora, Ed Wood), Michael Engler (Sex and the City, 30 Rock), and Salli Richardson-Whitfield (Eureka, Being Mary Jane), who also direct. Adding depth and accuracy to the historical narrative, Erica Dunbar (Truth Be Told, Hamilton: History Has Its Eyes on You) serves as both a historical consultant and co-executive producer.
A collaborative effort between HBO and Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, The Gilded Age benefits from the skilled casting directors Bernie Telsey (Only Murders in the Building, The Color Purple) and Adam Caldwell (Little America, Funny Pages) of the Telsey Office via Deadline.
