A reboot of the 2001 series Six Feet Under is under development at HBO, according to Variety. Currently, no plotline or writer has been attached to the project, which is still in the early stages.
Six Feet Under aired from 2001 to 2005 and followed the lives of the Fisher family, who are in the midst of running a funeral home in Los Angeles. The cast included Peter Krause (Parenthood), Michael C. Hall (Dexter), Frances Conroy (American Horror Story), Lauren Ambrose (Servant), Freddy Rodriguez (Bull), Mathew St. Patrick (Alien Raiders), and Rachel Griffiths (Muriel’s Wedding).
The original series was well-received by critics, receiving 53 total Emmy nominations and winning nine. Six Feet Under served as a launch pad for the careers of people like Justina Machado (One Day At A Time) and Rainn Wilson (The Office). The new project will hail from the original series creator Alan Ball (Uncle Frank) and executive producers Bob Greenblatt (Beverly Hills, 90210) and David Janollari (Heat Vision and Jack).
The original cast reunited earlier this year for a PaleyFest panel during a celebration of its 20th anniversary.
