Showtime’s ‘Yellowjackets’ Creators Have Ideas For Possible Spinoffs

The creators of Showtime’s Yellowjackets have ideas for possible spinoff shows, according to Comicbook. This would be following in the footsteps of other Showtime series, Billions and Dexter, which are both getting spinoffs. Yellowjackets is created by Bart Nickerson (Narcos, Dispatches from Elsewhere) and Ashley Lyle (Narcos, Narcos: Mexico). The first season debuted on Showtime on November 14, 2021 and has been renewed through season three, with season two available to stream on March 24 and airing on network TV on March 26.

“We’re aware that it’s something they’re interested in, and we certainly aren’t closed off to the idea,” Lyle told The Hollywood Reporter. “It would have to make sense. We have a couple of ideas.”

Yellowjackets follows an extremely talented team of high-school girls’ soccer players who survived a plane crash in the Ontario wilderness. The girls go from a thriving team to warring, cannibalistic clans as the series tells the stories of their lives before and after, with a timeline taking place 25 years after the crash.

The vast timeframe the show covers does not leave a lot of room for a spinoff, but that does not mean there is not potential.

The series stars Sophie Nélisse (The Book Thief, 47 Meters Down) as teen Shauna, Courtney Eaton (Gods of Egypt, Mad Max: Fury Road) as teen Lottie, Jasmin Savoy Brown (Scream VI, The Leftovers) as teen Taissa, Liv Hewson (Let It Snow, Santa Clarita Diet) as teen Vanessa, Sophie Thatcher (Prospect, The Book of Boba Fett) as teen Natalie, Samantha Hanratty (The Unit, Charmed) as teen Misty, Melanie Lynskey (The Last of Us, Two and a Half Men) as Shauna, Tawny Cypress (Remains, Unforgettable) as Taissa, Lauren Ambrose (Servant, Six Feet Under) as Vanessa, Juliette Lewis (Natural Born Killers, Cape Fear) as Natalie, Simone Kessell (Outlaws, Obi-Wan Kenobi) as Lottie, and Christina Ricci (Wednesday, The Addams Family) as Misty.

Yellowjackets season one is available to stream on Paramount+ and Showtime.
