TVLine has released an exclusive first look of The Chi’s season seven. The image shows Alicia, played by Lynn Whitfield (A Thin Line Between Love and Hate, Nappily Ever After), at a house party in a much happier state after the events that occurred in the season six finale. Spoilers for season six are ahead so proceed with caution.
Season six concluded with two villain deaths: Otis “Douda” Perry, played by Curtiss Cook (Manifest, The Girl in the Park) and Rob, played by Iman Shumpert (Under His Influence, Them). Both were killed by Nuck, portrayed by Cortez Smith (And Just Like Dat, Perfect Murder). After these events, Nuck left Rob’s body on his mother Alicia’s townhouse steps. In the final moments of the final episode, Alicia yelled over her son’s body.
Joining Alicia in the photo is Tracy, played by Tai Davis (Save the Last Dance, 100 Days to Live), and Jada, played by Yolonda Ross (The Bad Batch, Stranger Inside) as they dance. Darnell, played by Rolando Boyce (Trapped in the Closet: Chapters 1-12, A Dog’s Way Home), is in the back talking with another person. TVline states that Keisha and Emmet are the hosts of said party. Keisha is played by Birgundi Baker (The Last Shift, Heathers). Emmet is portrayed by Jacob Latimore (The Maze Runner, Candy Jar).
While Whitfield joined the Paramount+ with Showtime series as a guest star, her status has changed as she is now a series regular. The news was revealed in August and mxdwn has covered the news, which can be read here.
In May, The Chi was renewed for season seven and began filming in Chicago. Although there is no set release date, TVLine states that the drama will debut in 2025.
All six seasons of The Chi are available to stream on Paramount+ with Showtime.
