After the recent release of its first-look trailer ahead of its premiere at Comic-Con, it has been unveiled that the revival season of the Showtime hit drama Dexter will be centered on a two-week timeline of Dexter Morgan’s life following the events of the final eighth season, via ScreenRant. The new revival series, Dexter: New Blood, will consist of ten episodes serving as an epilogue to the infamous series finale and final season of its parent series. Currently, it is unknown whether the revival series will continue following this ten-episode voyage back into the mind of the notorious serial killer.
Set to premiere on November 7, the series will be helmed by the showrunner Clyde Phillips (Suddenly Susan), who previously served as the showrunner for the original program’s first four seasons before turning into an executive producer and consultant. The series will witness a return for Michael C. Hall (Six Feet Under) who portrays the titular character in addition to Jennifer Carpenter (Limitless) playing his sister Debra Morgan, who previously died in season eight and will most likely be appearing as an apparition to Dexter much like his father in the parent show.
The main cast is rounded out with Alano Miller (Underground), Julia Jones (Westworld), Jack Alcott (Champaign ILL), Johnny Sequoyah (Believe), David Magidoff (The Morning Show), and Clancy Brown (Billions). Also, actor John Lithgow (3rd Rock from the Sun), known for portraying the serial killer Trinity Killer during the fourth season of Dexter, will be coming back to the Dexter story world in a cameo role.
Dexter: New Blood will center on Dexter’s life as Jim Lindsay in a small town in New York as he begins to embed himself within the rural setting, people, and community while also struggling to manage and deal with his past life.
