Showtime will offer the first three episodes of the hit drama series, Ray Donovan, for free on streaming platforms and on-demand. The episodes will be available from January 1 to January 31 on Sho.com, Showtime.com, and YouTube, as well as across multiple SHOWTIME partner platforms.
The free trial is set to hype up the release of Ray Donovan: The Movie, which will premiere on January 14. The movie follows a seven-season run of the series on Showtime from 2013 to 2020. The iconic TV series received many accolades including one Primetime Emmy Award, one Critics’ Choice Television Award, and one Golden Globe Award.
The movie picks up where season seven left off with Mickey on the run and Ray determined to find and stop him before he can cause any more carnage. It also touches on the present-day fallout from the Donovan/Sullivan feud with Ray and Mickey’s origin story from 30 years ago.
Liev Schreiber will continue to play Ray Donovan, the protagonist of the series, in the upcoming movie. Outside of TV, Schreiber is also known for his works in movies and Broadway shows such as The Scream trilogy, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and Glengarry Glen Ross. His portrayal of Ray Donovan earned him nominations of Best Lead Actor in a Drama Series including the Primetime Emmy Awards and the Golden Globe Awards.
Joining alongside Schreiber are Eddie Marsan (Happy-Go-Lucky), Dash Mihok (Before I Wake), Pooch Hall (The Game), Kerris Dorsey (Brothers & Sisters), Katherine Moennig (The L Word), Kerry Condon (Rome), and Jon Voight (Midnight Cowboy).
The official trailer and poster for Ray Donovan: The Movie were released on November 22, 2021. The film will be approximately two hours long and will “conclude the story”.
