Showtime Reveals Teaser and Return Date for ‘The Chi’ Season Six

According to Deadline, Showtime revealed the premiere date and the teaser trailer for season six of The Chi. The series will be available to stream on Paramount+ and on demand on August 4, and then will make its Showtime on-air debut at 9 p.m. on Sunday, August 6, on the network.

The season consists of two eight-episode installments, with 16 episodes total and the second installment debuting at a later date.

Season six of The Chi stars Curtiss Cook (The Devil You Know, Roxanne Roxanne), Yolonda Ross (The Get Down, Terror Lake Drive), Jacob Latimore (Detroit, Ride Along), Luke James (Star, Genius), Shamon Brown Jr. (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, The Chi), Alex Hibbert (Moonlight, Black Panther), Birgundi Baker (Black Lightning, Station 19), and Michael V. Epps (Chicago Med, Chicago Fire).

Nia Jervier (Dear White People, Step Sisters), Tory O. Davis (The Promotion, Sinister 2), Carolyn Michelle Smith (How to Get Away with Murder, Russian Doll), Kandi Burruss (Insecure, Keeping Up with the Joneses), Tyla Abercrumbie (Unexpected, The Poker House), Genesis Denise Hale (Candyman, Easy), Iman Shumpert (21 & Over, Under His Influence), Vic Mensa (South Side, Sherman’s Showcase), Jason Weaver (Smart Guy, Thea), Hannaha Hall (Chicago Med, Perdido), Judae’a Brown (Our Father, Chicago Med), Ahmad Ferguson (Beats, Power Book IV: Force), Miriam A. Hyman (Blue Bloods, NCIS), Joel Steingold (The Crossover, Stuck in the Middle), L’lerrét Jazelle (NCIS: Los Angelos, 9-1-1), Rolando Boyce (Henry Danger, Sam & Cat), and Tai Davis (Widows, Chicago Med) will guest star.

The Chi is a coming-of-age story that follows a group of residents on the South Side of Chicago. They become linked by coincidence, however, they are bonded by the need for connection and redemption. It is created by Lena Waithe (Master of None, Twenties) and comes from 20th Television.

Waithe executive produces the series under her Hillman Grad Banner. Justin Hillian (Snowfall, I’m Dying Up Here) and Jewel Coronel (Star, Miss 2059) executive produce as well as co-showrun season six. Deondray Gossfield (The Chadwick Journals, The DL Chronicles) and Quincy LeNear Gossfield (Flames, Congo Cabaret) produce and will direct multiple episodes of the season.

Executive producers also include Common (Selma, John Wick: Chapter 2), Aaron Kaplan (The Neighbors, A Million Little Things), Rishi Rajani (Jane, Huella), Rick Famuyiwa (Dope, The Mandalorian), Shelby Stone (Single Ladies, Bessie), and Derek Dudley (Meet the Blacks, The Last Two Lovers at the End of the World).
