Wealth and corruption return to Showtime with the release of Billions fifth season trailer, according to Bell Media. The critically acclaimed show has released a full-length trailer for the upcoming season and hints at another exhilarating batch of episodes. Billions was created by the writing and executive producing duo of Brian Koppelman and David Levien (co-writers of Rounders) in addition to being joined by The New York Times’ financial columnist Andrew Ross Sorkin (producer of Too Big to Fail) to formulate the series’ themes of market manipulation seen through the corrupt and justice sides.
Billions follow the exploits of hedge fund manager Bobby Axelrod, such as insider trading, in order to amass greater wealth for his firm. The series also centers on the United States Attorney of New York Charles Rhoades’s attempts to uncover the truth behind Axelrod’s wealth and the crimes that built it. Golden Globe winner Damian Lewis (Band of Brothers and Homeland) portrays Axelrod while Academy Award-nominated Paul Giamatti (John Adams and Cinderella Man) takes on the role of Rhoades.
In addition to these actors, the series’ cast for the fifth season includes the returning Maggie Siff (Mad Men and Sons of Anarchy) who plays Wendy Rhoades and Asia Kate Dillon (Orange is the New Black) who portrays Taylor Mason, a former analyst for Axelrod’s company. The fifth season will also feature Corey Stoll (House of Cards), Julianna Margulies (ER and The Good Wife), David Costabile (Breaking Bad), Condola Rashad (Masters of None), Kelly AuCoin (The Americans), and Jeffrey Demunn (The Walking Dead).
The fifth season of Billions will premiere Sunday, May 3 at 9 PM ET. For audiences interested in catching up on the first four seasons in time, the series is available to stream on Hulu (with a Showtime Add-on) and on the Showtime site, pending subscriptions. Check out the new trailer below:
