According to ComicBook, the showrunners for The CW’s Superman & Lois tease that there will be surprising characters from the comics in the final season. The series is the last DC-inspired series on the network and will premiere its final season in October. According to TVLine, the series will see a comic character appear by the end of the season. Co-showrunners Todd Helbing (Black Sails, Ascension) and Brent Fletcher (Lost, Friday Night Lights) didn’t reveal which character will be featured at the end of the series.
“There is a pretty significant character from the comics that we were actually surprised that we were able to use — and it’s pretty soon in the season,” they said. “You hear the name drop, then start hearing that name drop more, and then you see that person eventually.”
As per ComicBook, although the comments regarding the character’s cameo are very vague, it is known that the final season of Superman & Lois will feature many cameos, including a surprise character played by Tom Cavanagh (Blue Bloods, Tom and Grant) from The Flash.
Helbing described the character that Cavanagh is playing as being created for him. He said, “There’s a lot of cameos, more than any other season I would say, this year. But that came out because it’s a character in the comics and I mean it’s like somebody met Tom Cavanagh, went back in time, created this character and then was like, ‘hey, you guys should cast this guy.’ You know, like that. It was the easiest casting of all time.”
Superman & Lois follows Clark Kent/Superman and Lois Lane as they reunite with their sons Jonathan and Jordan in Smallville. Although they have dealt with supervillains, monsters and alien invaders, Clark and Lois face one of the biggest challenges while working as parents in today’s society.
Superman & Lois is available to stream on Max.
