The awards were a little different this year after the fires in Los Angeles delayed the live event. After the devastating effects, the guild took an opportunity to help those in need after the unexpected turn of events. Despite the delay, Netflix took on the celebration, airing it On Sunday, February 25th. In an article, The Hollywood Reporter shared the guild’s thought process when it came to seeking aid. “Last month, the guild canceled its live, in-person nominees’ announcement due to the raging wildfires across Los Angeles, instead sharing the nominations via press release. The guild also urged people to donate to a charity to help those in need, noting that donations can be made to the SAG-AFTRA Foundation’s natural disaster relief fund to help the SAG-AFTRA community.” In addition to their efforts, SAG donated to the Foundation for Fire Relief for 1 Million Dollars. Tune into Netflix to catch the whole ceremony.
