According to Deadline, Tatiana Maslany, who starred in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, believes there will not be a second season of the Marvel television series. In a recent interview, Maslany provides her explanation for why she believes the Disney+ series won’t return. The first season of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law premiered on Disney+ in August 2022.
According to Deadline, Maslany made an appearance on Codenames LIVE! — The New Class on Twitch were she states “I don’t think so. I think we blew our budget and Disney was like “‘No thanks.'”
In the nine-episode first season, Maslany played Jennifer Walters, who is a legal practitioner with a focus on superhuman cases. Specifically, the first season focused on Walters and her life as both a single woman in her thirties and a hulk with superpowers of her own.
Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Hulk (Poor Things), Bendict Wong as Wong (Doctor Strange), Jameela Jamil (Poker Face), Ginger Gonzaga (True Lies), Josh Segarra (Scream VI),Tim Roth as Emil Blonsky/Abomination (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Ring), Renée Elise Goldsberry (Hamilton) and Jon Bass (Baywatch) were among the Marvel Cinematic Universe guest stars in the first season.
Speaking with Deadline last year, head writer Jessica Gao (Rick and Morty) discussed how should the show not be renewed for a second, the season one finale might serve as a series finale.
Gao stated “I’ve been writing for television for a very long time, and you can never, ever guarantee that you’re gonna get another season, especially for a Season one show,” she adds “So, the prudent thing for a writer working on a season one show is to tell a satisfying and complete story so that if it did end that way, you felt like you at least told one full story but still left the door open for, you know, six seasons and a movie.”
Jessica Gao was the head writer for several of the season one episodes, which were directed by Kat Coiro (Dead To Me, Marry Me) and Ana Vaila.
Executive producers include Kevin Feige (Black Panther, The Avengers Films), Louis D’Esposito (Iron Man, Guardians of the Galaxy), Victoria Alonso (Avengers:Endgame, Captain America: The First Avenger), Brad Winderbaum (Black Widow, Thor: Ragnarok), Coiro, and Gao.
