Shannen Doherty Joins ‘Heathers’ Reboot

Shannen Doherty is headed back to the land of suburbia and murder.

Entertainment Weekly reported that the actress announced her decision to join TV Land’s Heathers reboot this Tuesday, when she posted an Instagram from the set, captioning the image: “Sneak peak from the #Heathers set……jealous much?”

As any ’80s enthusiast will know, Heathers is the iconically dark comedy about a social outcast and a sociopath steadily fighting back against a group of girls that make Mean Girls look like The Babysitters Club. When J.D. (Christian Slater) starts taking the plan one step further by killing the clique, Veronica (Winona Ryder) has to stop him from his dastardly plan.

Now, TV Land has reimagined the series for a modern anthology series. Much like American Horror Story, each season will have a different heroine dealing with their own versions of Heathers.

Shannen Doherty, who played Heather Duke in the original 1988 film, has not yet disclosed her role on the season, although TV Land noted that she will play a “pivotal, unnamed character.” Evidently she will not be picking up the “Heather” name again, but “unnamed character” still leads much intrigue in its wake.

The series is directed by Leslye Headland and written by Jason A. Micallef.
