Willie Garson died at the age of 57 after a battle with cancer, via Deadline. Nathan Garson, Willie’s son, announced the news on social media along with actors such as Titus Welliver and Mario Cantone.
“I love you so much papa,” wrote Nathan, “Rest in peace and I’m so glad you got to share all your adventures with me and were able to accomplish so much. I’m so proud of you. I will always love you, but I think it’s time for you to go on an adventure of your own.”
Added Nathan: “You’ll always be with me. Love you more than you will ever know and I’m glad you can be at peace now. You always were the toughest and funniest and smartest person I’ve known. I’m glad you shared your love with me. I’ll never forget it or lose it.” Welliver wrote on his social media: “There are no words, I love you dear brother. We are fewer.” Cantone, who played Garson’s husband in Sex and the City, wrote that “I couldn’t have had a more brilliant TV partner, I’m devastated and just overwhelmed with Sadness. Taken away from all of us way soon. You were a gift from the god’s sweet Willie. Rest …I love you.”

Garson was known for his role, Stanford Blatch, from Sex and the City. In the series, he was Carrie Bradshaw’s (portrayed by Sarah JessicaParker) gay best friend. He also starred in the Sex and the City film series as the same character. His role from White Collar, Mozzie, also gained him recognition. Garson’s contagious performance left fans with deep impressions.
Over the years, Garson had earned himself 170 acting credits. He performed for both popular television series and the big screen. Other than Sex and the City and White Collar, he appeared in Hawaii Five-0, Quantum Leap, Girl Meets World, Troop Beverly Hills, Soapdish, Groundhog Day, Mr. Belvedere, There’s Something About Mary, The Polka King, and a lot more.
Before his death, Garson was filming the revival series of Sex and the City called And Just Like That… The show is set to premiere this fall on HBO Max.
