According to Comicbook, Seth MacFarlane (Family Guy, American Dad!) has claimed that more will come for his sci-fi series The Orville. Previously, there has been news of cast contracts expiring. This made many fans believe that there would be no more seasons for the series. MacFarlane, during The Mike Henry Show, addressed the future of the series by saying, ”there will be more.”
MacFarlane also said, “The Orville was a passion project, I say ‘was’ but I don’t really mean ‘was’ because there will be more.”
The Orville was created by MacFarlane, who also stars in the series as the spaceship captain. It follows the story of the crew on the U.S.S. Orville as they continue their mission of exploring the universe and finding planets to join their alliance. The series started in 2017 and generated a strong fan base waiting for news of a fourth installment.
According to Comicbook, MacFarlane has spoken about what a fourth season for the series would bring. He has stated that it would be a blank slate with new adventures and stories for the crew of the ship.
MacFarlane said, “It’s tough to chart what exactly what a Season Four would be, because when we started writing Season Three, half the stuff that happened — the shifting of the Alliances, the Kaylon becoming an ally, the Moclans becoming enemies — I never could have predicted. It’s just something that came about in the writers room over time. Certainly we set up threads this year, and most were pretty obvious, that lend themselves to payoffs in a Season four, but how everything intertwines and evolves and develops…. I don’t even know if we’re picked up!”
The Orville as well as The Orville: New Horizons are available to stream on Hulu.
