Deadline reports that Seth MacFarlane (Sing, A Million Ways to Die in the West) is working on a series adaptation of Image Comic’s The Shrouded College. The rights to the series were acquired by MacFarlane’s Fuzzy Door and UCP. The comic series comes from Charles Soule (Undiscovered Country, Star Wars: Crimson Reigns) and Will Sliney (Star Wars: The Rise of Kylo Ren, Hell to Pay #1), who will both be executive producing with Rachel Hargreaves-Heald (Threshold, The Attic Door), Fuzzy Door President Erica Huggins (Under the Banner of Heaven, Books of Blood), and MacFarlane.
The Shrouded College comic series is about story of a group of characters that are enlisted by a secret agency to fight in a supernatural cold war on the behalf of the Shrouded College, a run-down organization on the precipice of collapse. The story is told through seven adventure-horror graphic novels which will be out over the next few years.
The first graphic novel in the series, Hell to Pay, was published in November of 2022 and the second, The Bloody Dozen, will be published in late 2023.
Soule has written for Marvel, DC, and Lucasfilm comic books such as Daredevil, Darth Vader, and a She-Hulk run that helped inspire the Disney+ series. Soule also serves as a creative consultant for Lucasfilm’s Star Wars universe.
Sliney has done artwork for characters for Star Wars and Spider-Man. He is the co-founder of Pioneertown Productions and starred and produced both Sky’s Draw with Will and RTE’s Will Sliney’s Storytellers.
MacFarlane’s Fuzzy Door produced Hulu’s The Orville and Cosmos; A Spacetime Odyssey. For Peacock, Fuzzy Door is behind MacFarlane’s Ted series adaptation and The End is Nye, hosted by Bill Nye (Bill Nye the Science Guy, Bill Nye Saves the World). They also backed a limited series based on The Winds of War and Netflix’s Good Time animated series.
