Second Season Of HBO’s ‘The Last Of Us’ Premieres This April

According to an official press release during Sony’s press conference, the Consumer Electronics Show Neil Druckmann (Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End) co-creator, writer, and executive producer for The Last of Us announces the series’ second season. The second season of HBO’s Emmy-winning drama will feature seven new episodes continuing the series’ story.

The Last of Us series is based on the popular video game franchise of the same name.  The game and series focus on Joel and Ellie two unlikely individuals that have to work together to survey the now-infected wasteland. Through their adventures to reach their goal they meet different individuals as well as perils. The second season will be set further in the future the same way the games were when the second installment of the game was released.

According to the press release the logline for the second season reads as follows  “Five years after the events of the first season, Joel and Ellie are drawn into conflict with each other and a world even more dangerous and unpredictable than the one they left behind.”

The cast for the second season includes Pedro Pascal (The Mandalorian, Game of Thrones)) as Joel, Bella Ramsey (More Flames, Catherine Called Birdy) as Ellie, Gabriel Luna (Terminator: Dark Fate, Bernie) as Tommy and Rutina Wesley (True Blood, Queen Sugar) as Maria. Previously announced new cast includes Kaitlyn Dever (Short Term 12, No One Will Save You) as Abby, Isabela Merced (Alien: Romulus, Turtles All the Way Down) as Dina, Young Mazino (Trinity’s Triumph, The Wood Thrush) as Jesse, Ariela Barer (How to Blow up a Pipeline, Study Night) as Mel, Tati Gabrielle (The 100, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina) as Nora, Spencer Lord (The Good Doctor, Fishing for Love) as Owen, Danny Ramirez (Assassination Nation, Top Gun: Maverick) as Manny and Jeffrey Wright (American Fiction, The French Dispatch) as Isaac with Catherine O’Hara (Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, The Wild Robot) also guest stars.

The Last of Us is available to stream on Max with the second season airing this April.
