Second Heist On Netflix Lot, Robbers Steal $330,000 Worth Of Equipment From ‘Lupin’ Set

A second robbery in the span of a week has taken place on the set of the Netflix heist drama Lupin. According to Deadline, around $333,000 worth of equipment was stolen from the set. Deadline says that the crew consisted of 20 people in some sort of masks and they used mortar fireworks to break onto the set.

“There was an incident on Feb 25 whilst filming the upcoming season of Lupin. Our cast and crew are safe and there were no injuries,” A spokesperson for Netflix told Deadline.

As mentioned, this is the second heist the streaming giant has seen since last week. A similar crew stole close to $200,000 worth in antiques from the set of The Crown. That show was in the midst of filming its fifth season while the Omar Sy (Jurassic World, The Intouchables) led crime show was filming its third season. The show briefly halted production, but quickly resumed.

The authorities of Nanterre, the city they were shooting in just outside of Paris, are currently in the midst of an investigation. Authorities do not believe the two robberies are related whatsoever.

Lupin is the streaming giant’s second biggest international hit just behind Squid Game, and its star Sy is more than excited to continue playing the role of the gentlemen thief. The show is based around the exploits of the fictional literary character Arsene Lupin who first graced the public eye in 1905 during a serial of short stories by author Maurice Leblanc.
