As D23 continues through the weekend, yesterday Sebastian Stan and Anthony Mackie took the stage to discuss more details about their upcoming TV show The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. In July at San Diego Comic Con, Marvel announced the plan to create The Falcon and The Winter Soldier staring Stan and Mackie as the duo embarks on adventures together post Avengers: Endgame.
At the end of Avengers: Endgame, Captain America/Steve Rogers, played by Chris Evans, passed his shield onto Sam Wilson, played by Mackie. Yesterday at D23, Mackie stated that he will not be playing Captain America in the upcoming show. When asked about portraying Captain America Mackie stated, “I am The Falcon. I will always be The Falcon. The monitor will stay the same.”

No official plot has been released for the show, but the fans do know it is going to follow the duo after Avengers: Endgame. In the films, Stan and Mackie’s characters are known for joking around with each other, but they have admitted that the show will be more serious. Mackie has stated, “We’re learning from each other. We’re thriving. We’ve been through relationship counseling.” Stan chose to add, “It’s a developing relationship. You just keep on, carry on.”
At D23, it was also announced that Emily VanCamp will be returning as her character, Agent Sharon Carter. VanCamp appeared in Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Captain America: Civil War. VanCamp discussed where Carter’s been during the events of Endgame and Avengers: Infinity War, “I’m excited to know! But it’s going to be an epic adventure, I think, and I’m so excited to be here.” It was also announced that Wyatt Russell will be joining the cast as John Walker. Daniel Brühl is also going to be returning as the villain Baron Zemo, who first appeared in Captain America: Civil War.
Yesterday Stan also announced that Bucky’s long hair will be cut in the series. Mackie stated, “We had to cut it. No respectable man wears that hair.” In the new poster fans can witness Stan’s short hair.
