John Krasinski had his breakout role in The Office as Jim Halpert. Since the end of that hit NBC show, the actor wasn’t seen around much in other works. That is until 2018 when Krasinski made a splash at the box office with his directorial debut in A Quiet Place. With Stephen King’s stamp of approval, Krasinski proved himself to be a horror genre phenomenon.
After his movie, Krasinski starred in Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan as a former marine and CIA analyst, Jack Ryan. The role had previously been played by A-list actors Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford, Ben Affleck, and Chris Pine in the film series. The first season saw Jack Ryan go from the safety of his desk job to back out in the field after discovering suspicious money transfers.
The synopsis for the second season reads: “After tracking a potentially suspicious shipment of illegal arms in the Venezuelan jungle, CIA Officer Jack Ryan heads down to South America to investigate. As Jack’s investigation threatens to uncover a far-reaching conspiracy, the President of Venezuela launches a counter-attack that hits home for Jack, leading him and his fellow operatives on a global mission spanning the United States, UK, Russia, and Venezuela to unravel the President’s nefarious plot and bring stability to a country on the brink of chaos.”
Krasinski notes a change in his character for the upcoming season. “This is a guy who very openly stated, ‘Here’s all the work. Go get the bad guys. I don’t want to be a part of it,’” said Krasinski. “But now his eyes have been opened and he can’t go back.”
Season two will feature Noomi Rapace as the newest cast member and her character will serve as somewhat of importance to Jack Ryan. “I want to team up with her so bad, and probably have feelings for her, but also am constantly aware this is espionage,” said Krasinski. “This isn’t a date at the mall. This can go south at any time.”
Jack Ryan has no official premiere date for season two yet, but you can binge-watch the first season on Amazon Prime Video.
