According to Comicbook, Director Orson Krennic will return in Star Wars: Andor season two after Ben Mendelssohn (The Marsh King’s Daughter, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) stated the character won’t be coming back. Empire states that Krennic will be a rival to Lt. Dedra Meero and someone Cassian Andor is tracking in season two.
Meero’s intelligence ran deep as she found out a rebellion was forming under wraps. She takes her job as an Imperial officer very seriously. At the end of season 1, she was nearly killed in Ferrix, Andor’s adopted world, when she was saved by the controversial Imperial officer Syril Karn.
As noted by Comicbook, it is to be presumed Cassian Andor is being hunted and tracked by Dedra Meero in the second season. Season one proved that Meero’s challenge is having everyone working for her instead of having her thoughts and ideas challenged. From Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, audiences were shown that during this time, Krennic’s ego is very high and proceeds to partake in political arguments. It’s no doubt that Krennic and Meero will have a long lasting conflict, especially if she figures out that the rebellion’s mission is to sabotage the Empire’s super weapon plans.
Mendelsohn commented about the Krennic vs. Meero conflict via Empire. “If they didn’t see eye to eye, to me, it’s cute. Dedra versus Krennic? I think it’s a bit of a mismatch. They’re all underlings to Krennic. They’re all going in one direction. The Empire, if you speak your mind, there are differences of opinion.”
When Empire asked if there will be other Star Wars’ imperial officers cameos, Mendelsohn said, “You know I can’t answer that. And I delight in not being able to answer your question. It’s a beautiful thing.”
According to Comicbook, Star Wars: Andor will star Diego Luna (The Book of Life, Narcos: Mexico) as Cassian Andor, Denise Gough (The Witcher, Colette) as Lt. Dedra Meero, Kyle Soller (The Book of Boba Fett, You, Me & the Apocalypse) as Syril Karn and Mendelsohn as Orson Krennic. Season two of Star Wars: Andor streams in Disney+ April 22nd, 2025.
