According to Comicbook, season two of Paramount+’s Yellowstone prequel spinoff 1923 has been indefinitely delayed due to the Writers Guild of America strike. The news was originally reported by NBC Montana. The series is filmed in Butte, Montana.
The report from NBC Montana states that production of 1923 was supposed to resume earlier this month in Butte at the ciic center through the end of the year, however, the production has requested a 10-day extension of the contract and might request more extensions depending on the length of the strike.
1923 follows the Dutton family’s origin story and introduces a new generation of Duttons. This generation is led by Jacob, played by Harrison Ford (Blade Runner, Working Girls), and Cara, played by Helen Mirren (The Good Liar, Shazam! Fury of the Gods). It explores pandemics, the end of prohibition, historic droughts, and the Great Depression in the early twentieth century in the mountain west.
Along with Ford and Mirren, the series also stars Jerome Flynn (Game of Thrones, Ripper Street), Marley Shelton (Scream, Uptown Girls), Aminah Nieves (Blueberry, V/H/S/99), James Badge Dale (The Empty Man, Lord of the Flies), Darren Mann (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Fortunate Son), Brian Geraghty (Big Sky, Boardwalk Empire), and Michelle Randolph (The Resort, A Snow White Christmas).
The series premiered on December 18, 2022 on Paramount+ and was created by Taylor Sheridan (1883, Tulsa King).
Season five of Yellowstone is currently incomplete. According to Comicbook, both drama involving the continued participation of series star Kevin Costner (The Bodyguard, Dances with Wolves), including issues between Costner and Sheridan regarding the show’s shooting schedule.
Yellowstone was first released on Paramount+ on June 20, 2018. Along with Costner, it stars Kelly Reilly (Above Suspicion, True Detective), Cole Hauser (Good Will Hunting, Dazed and Confused), Luke Grimes (True Blood, Brothers and Sisters), and Wes Bentley (The Hunger Games, Ghost Rider).
