Deadline has reported that the second season of Netflix’s most popular series, Wednesday, will be shot in Ireland. Sources of Deadline say that they are looking to start production in late April.
Wednesday‘s first season was filmed in Romania from September of 2021 until March of 2022. The popularity of the comedy series increased TV tourism in Romania, according to Deadline. Filming in Romania caused logistical challenges, leading to this location change.
The series first debuted on Netflix on November 23, 2022 and stars Jenna Ortega (Stuck in the Middle, You) as Wednesday Addams, Emma Myers (The Baker and the Beauty, The Glades) as Endi Sinclair, and Christina Ricci (The Addams Family, Yellowjackets) as Marilyn Thornhill.
The cast of Wednesday season one also includes Percy Hynes White (The Gifted, Pretty Hard Cases) as Xavier Thorpe, Hunter Doohan (Your Honor, Truth Be Told) as Tyler Galpin, Catherine Zeta-Jones (Ocean’s Twelve, The Mask of Zorro) as Morticia Addams, Gwendoline Christie (Game of Thrones, The Sandman) as Larissa Weems, Luis Guzmán (Narcos, Journey 2: The Mysterious Island) as Gomez Addams, Joy Sunday (The Beta Test, Good Trouble) as Georgie Farmer (The Evermoor Chronicles, The Ministry of Curious Stuff) as Ajax Petropolus, Fred Armisen (Portlandia, Saturday Night Live) as Uncle Fester, Riki Lindhome (Another Period, The Big Bang Theory) as Dr. Valentine Kinbott, and Moosa Mostafa (The Last Bus, Nativity Rocks!) as Eugene Ottinger.
The series is created by Miles Millar (The Shannara Chronicles, Into the Badlands) and Alfred Gough (Smallville, Spider-Man 2). Tim Burton (The Nightmare Before Christmas, Edward Scissorhands) executive produces and directs. There is currently no confirmation of the cast or information about the plot of season two, however, Ortega has suggested that the season would have a stronger horror influence. Ortega will be producing season two.
Wednesday is currently has 252 million views and is number one on Netflix’s Top 10 most popular English-language series.
