Season Two Cast For Netflix’s ‘Beef’ Has Been Revealed

According to Comicbook, season two of Beef had been renewed, leading to a new cast reveal. Replacing Ali Wong (Always Be My Maybe, Fresh Off The Boat) and Steven Yeun (The Walking Dead, The Legend of Kora) are Carey Mulligan (The Great Gatsby, Pride & Prejudice), Cailee Spaeny (Priscilla, On the Basics of Sex), Charles Melton (Riverdale, The Sun is Also a Star) and Oscar Isaac (Moon Knight, Star Wars: The Force Awakens). Starring Wong and Yeun, the first season of the anthology series contained a freestanding plotline that ended during the season’s finale. Netflix announced the renewal for Beef’s season two and the upcoming cast on Tuesday, October 22 of this year. There has been no announcement of the new season’s premiere but it will consist of eight episodes that are half an hour.

The Netflix announcement contains the season two logline as follows: “A young couple witnesses an alarming fight between their boss and his wife, triggering chess moves of favors and coercion in the elitist world of a country club and its Korean billionaire owner.” The young couple is set to be Spaeny and Melton, setting the fight in motion. The boss and his wife will be Issac and Mulligan, the spectators of the fight.

A24 and Netflix are working together on Beef again for its second season via Comicbook. Returning as creator, executive producer and showrunner is Lee Sung Jin (2 Broke Girls, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia). Yeun and Wong will be back as executive producers and working with Jake Shreier (Robot & Frank, Paper Towns), although not appearing on the show anymore. The two won Emmys individually for their acting performance on Beef’s first season and the show winning awards too.

According to Deadline, oscar-winner Youn Yuh-jun (Sense8,  Minari) will be joining the cast listed above.

Along with the no news on a season two premiere, there was no release of the series’ production schedule per Comicbook. Beef has beaten the allegations of having Jake Gyllanhall (Road House. Brokeback Mountain) and Anne Hathaway (The Princess Diaries, The Devil Wears Prada) as the couple Mulligan and Issac are playing.
