Deadline has reported that FX/Hulu’s The Bear is set to begin production on season three around the end of February or the beginning of March. The renewal of the series was recently announced by FX and Hulu.
The Bear first debuted on Hulu on June 23, 2022, with season two releasing on June 22, 2023. Season two ends with Jeremy Allen White’s (Shameless, The Iron Claw) character Carmy trapped in the restaurant’s walk-in fridge. In an interview with Deadline, White said he “hopes” the character will escape in the third season.
White told Deadline that he would like to see an episode of season three in which “we can get as many [guest stars] to come back for one day,” to rival the star-studded guest cast from the season two episode six episode “Fishes”.
The episode featured Oliver Platt (Chicago Med, Lake Placid) as Uncle Jimmy, Sarah Paulson (American Horror Story, Ocean’s 8) as Cousin Michelle; John Mulaney (Saturday Night Live, Big Mouth) as Cousin Michelle’s partner, Stevie, Bob Odenkirk (Better Call Saul, Lucy Hank) as Uncle Lee, Jamie Lee Curtis (Scream Queens, Everything Everywhere All at Once) as Donna Berzatto, Gillian Jacobs (Invincible, Community) as Richie’s wife at the time, Tiffany, and Jon Bernthal (Daredevil, The Walking Dead) as Mikey Berzatto.
White has reportedly not yet seen the scripts for season three, according to Deadline. He also told Deadline that he wants to see Olivia Colman (Fleabag, The Crown) return as Chef Terry. Colman was last featured in season two episode seven “Forks”.
Along with White, The Bear stars Ayo Edebiri (Bottoms, Abbott Elementary) as Sydney Adamu, Molly Gordon (Booksmart, Theater Camp) as Claire, Ebon Moss-Bachrach (No Hard Feelings, The Punisher) as Richie, Abby Elliott (Odd Mom Out, No Strings Attached) as Natalie Berzatto, Matty Matheson (Dead Set on Life, It’s Suppertime!) as Neil Fak, and Chris Witaske (Chicago Party Aunt, Love) as Pete.
