As stated by TVLine, PBS has released a full-length trailer for Miss Scarlet’s fifth season. The show was previously named Miss Scarlet and The Duke and was changed in February last year. The premiere is scheduled for Sunday, January 12, at 8/7c. However, PBS Masterpiece Amazon Prime Channel subscribers and PBS Passport members began streaming season five on Sunday, December 8. Watch the trailer below!
TVLine also reported on April 18 that Tom Durant-Pritchard (Britain’s Bloody Crown, The Head Hunter) was added to the cast as Alexander Blake. He is a former soldier detective inspector who will replace “The Duke” William Wellington, who went to America. This news was revealed less than two months after The Duke’s actor Stuart Martin (Twilight of the Gods, Army of Thieves) left the television show.
Durant-Pritchard commented at the time, saying, “I am thrilled to be joining the team and to become part of the Scarlet family. Working with Kate [Phillips] has been a dream and she’s been so welcoming.”
The two-minute trailer explains that William will not be returning from New York and introduces Detective Alexander Blake. There are many fight and action scenes, as well as suspense and romance. Alexander even says to Kate Phillips’ (Peaky Blinders, War & Peace) Scarlett, “Eliza Scarlet, I am arresting you on suspicion of murder.”
The logline for the fifth season of Miss Scarlet via PBS is as follows: “In the new season, Eliza’s agency is thriving, and her professional life is on a successful path – on the personal side however, Duke has now been away in New York for several months and Eliza is forced to make a difficult decision. Meanwhile, a new Detective Inspector comes to Scotland Yard and Eliza must navigate building a relationship with him if she’s going to continue having access to police resources. All these changes and decisions beg the question – can Eliza Scarlet have it all?”
TVLine has also released first-look images for the upcoming season of the drama series, which can be viewed here.
