As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, after five seasons, the decorated rapper and actor Queen Latifah (Set It Off, Hustle) starred in her final episode of The Equalizer. The show fully completed its fifth season, one-upping the 1980s original series it was based on by a whole season.

The Hollywood Reporter details the decline in viewership. One season ago, the show had almost two million more viewers. This may have been from its reassignment to a later time on Sunday nights.

The Equalizer was billed as a reboot of the classic 80s series, which revolved around a mysterious former agent who used his experience to help common citizens in dangerous situations, searching for redemption for lines that were crossed in the name of service to his country. Latifah plays a similar role, as she delves into her role of everyday mother to her teenage daughter.

Latifah seems to be highly satisfied with her performance and tenure in her role as Robyn McCall. She took to Facebook to pen an ode to her time at CBS, in which she is proud of herself for bringing to life an action-packed female role, as she is always expected to do. She thanks the cast and producers, as well as all of the fans. She also alludes to the notion that she might be working on another strong female role, stating that she cannot wait to share the details with fans soon. If this is so, it could also be part of the reason the show concluded.

The 1994 Grammys Best Solo Rap Performer also announced on her X back in November that Ice Age 6 is in production with her voice acting alongside Ray Ramono (No Good Deed, Everybody Loves Raymond) and John Leguizamo (Spawn, Encanto). All episodes of The Equalizer are available now on CBS.
