Holly Hunter will join HBO’s Succession for its second season, which began shooting in New York City in early 2019.
Succession comes from the mind of writer Jesse Armstrong, and has been praised for its complex cast of unlikely protagonists and tension-laced storyline. The dramedy focuses on a dysfunctional family and their global media conglomerate. After premiering last year, the show transitioned from quiet release to major HBO hit. In the upcoming season, Hunter will play Rhea Jarrel, a CEO of a rival media firm. This part only supplements an already impressive résumé of credits. The Oscar-winning actress is widely known for her roles in The Big Sick, Batman Vs. Superman and The Incredibles, amongst other major motion pictures. Hunter also had a starring role on another HBO drama, Here and Now, which was canceled after only 10 episodes.
HBO released season 2’s trailer in early May, which promises more family drama as tensions between characters further build. Succession is scheduled to premiere in August.
