The hunt for Dory continues in the trailer released for season four of Search Party, coming to HBO Max on January 14, via Deadline. The gang’s back together again as they have a new set of mysteries to solve.
Search Party is a comedic thriller that follows a group of eccentric friends living in New York as they unintentionally fall into a world of crime and missing persons. The series stars Alia Shawkat (Arrested Development, Green Room) as Dory, John Paul Reynolds (Stranger Things) as Drew, John Early (Late Night) as Elliot, Meredith Hagner (Strangers) as Portia and Cole Escola (Difficult People) as Dori’s obsessed fan. Season four will feature guest star appearances from Academy Award-winning actress Susan Sarandon (Thelma & Louise, Feud), Busy Phillips (Freaks and Geeks, Cougar Town), Emmy Award winner Ann Dowd (The Handmaid’s Tale), Griffin Dunne (This is Us), and Lillias White (The Get Down).
Picking up where season three left off, the season four trailer shows Dory being held captive by her crazed stalker. Her friends, Portia, Drew, and Elliot, have carried on in their lives, oblivious to the fact that something might be seriously wrong. Portia is busy working on her next movie, Drew is going through an identity crisis by working at a theme park, and Elliot has become a right wing conservative talk show host. They begin to realize that Dory might actually be missing, leaving them with no choice but to get the search party back together. The only problem is that the trio is nothing without Dori, and what follows is chaos as the team is unqualified for such high stakes.
Search Party originally aired on TBS for its first two seasons and then made the jump to HBO Max for season three which premiered in June 2020. With a total of ten episodes slated for season four, the first three episodes will debut on the streaming service January 14, with the next three coming on January 21, and the final four arriving on January 28.
The first clue for season four comes in its official poster with the title “It stopped being a party a long time ago.”
