‘Scrubs’ Creator Bill Lawrence on a Reboot for the Series on ABC or Other Possible Networks

In this day and age of television reboots, one that seemingly will not be joining in is Scrubs. The cast reunited yesterday at Vulture Festival at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel where rumors began to go around that the show would make comeback. Creator Bill Lawrence confirmed that this would not be the case – for now. “I would do anything to get to work with not only this group [but the entire crew]…it was the best time in my life,” he said. But “sometimes reboots — not all the time — feel like a money grab.”

Will & Grace and Roseanne are two popular shows that saw a successful revival on their respective networks. Scrubs was canceled by its network home, NBC, after season seven but was later allowed two more seasons on ABC. The show was not a huge hit in ratings, but it still served as a classic among many loyal fans.

Season eight and nine were not its best. In fact, some of the main cast did not partake in the new seasons. More changes were made when new characters got involved. If a reboot was in the future, the show could most definitely write its wrongs.

Lawrence was not completely against a revival. “If we ever do it, we’ll do it as a short little movie or something else,” he said. “I think the problem from me is I would just want to see where everyone is. I would want to see where their marriages are [as opposed to a huge event].”

Zach Braff who played John Michael “J.D.” Dorian posted a Scrubs reunion picture with a teasing caption. The picture was taken when the cast was together for Vulture Festival.

Although there will not be a reboot, for now, fans can still go back and binge-watch the comedy series on Hulu and Amazon.
