‘Scream Queens’ Reveal The Plot and Cast for Season Two at PaleyFest

Brad Falchuk has no plans to keep fans of his newest hit, Scream Queens, hanging–replace the latter word with a more creative form of murder as you will.

The cast of the series revealed that they will all be returning to season two during a panel at PaleyFest Saturday night, Variety reports. On stage sat Billie Lourd, Abigail Breslin, Keke Palmer, Lea Michele, Niecy Nash, and Jaime Lee Curtis, addressing newcomer fans under the lights of Dolby Theatre.

It was Curtis that broke the news.

“According to the boss, we’re all going to be back,” Curtis said, regarding the trio show-runners Falchuk, Ryan Murphy, and Ian Brennan.

This revelation comes after Lea Michele had individually confirmed her return last week, as MXDWN reported.

The news came across well to the fresh, sizable audience, grown from nothing as Scream Queens only just premiered after a prominent delay in September of 2015. The series debuted to a mere handful of viewers, kept relative to what it succeeded, the Emmys–4 million Americans watched the first episode of Scream Queens that night, and most of the viewers were young ‘millennials,’ those considered such because they’re under 25 years old. It was this very specific audience that one of the creators, Ryan Murphy, treasured as the show’s lifeblood.

After all, the show-runners believed that their savvy tactics with a massive social media campaign would be what would keep Scream Queens rolling, and it did. It certainly wasn’t the ratings–the Scream Queens finale landed without a sound, attracting only 2.6 million people to watch the red-masked end.

That, of course, was the old season–for the new run, which will only include the actors who play characters still living, the events will unfold in a hospital setting, which for fans of the Falchuk-Murphy-Brennan franchise may ring a few bells (American Horror Story: Asylum, which was season two of the show, nonetheless).

Falchuk also revealed to the audience that the new season will truly revolve around Curtis, and her old character from season one, Dean Cathy Munsch. Apparently, the head of college affairs will now be running a new kind of business, one American system perhaps more broken than universities: the healthcare system. But if Dean Munsch was able to correct her college world by ridding it of the Greek fraternity and sorority world, then maybe she’ll be able to do something of the same, or so Falchuk hinted on Saturday.

“She will take on the cases no one else will take and the conditions everyone says are incurable,” said the show-runner.

“And fix the broken system!” Curtis supplemented in excitement for her character.

Falchuk also confirmed the return of Glen Powell and three additional characters, whose actors are yet to be named but were claimed to be doctors in the new hospital setting.

Scream Queens season two will premiere in the fall on Fox.
