The animated comedy series, exploring the British royal family, originated from Gary Janetti, Family Guy writer-producer and executive producer of Will and Grace. Janetti is famously known for having an Instagram account, with almost 1 million followers, that posts memes of the royal family through the lens of 6-year-old Prince George, the eldest child of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Kate Middleton.
“I’m thrilled to be working at HBO Max and bringing them yet another series about a family ruthlessly fighting for the throne,” Janetti said.
The series will satirize the family, specifically through the eyes of future king, Prince George. Janetti will be voicing the young royal, with several famous and respectable names signing on to voice the rest of the royal family.
Orlando Bloom will voice Prince Harry, Condola Rashad will be Meghan Markle, Lucy Punch as Kate Middleton, Iwan Rheon as Prince William, Tom Hollander as both Prince Philip and Prince Charles, Alan Cumming as George’s butler Owen and Frances De La Tour as Queen Elizabeth II.
In the series, Prince George will be “spilling the royal tea” with issues related to his family, his followers and the British Monarch, all while navigating the challenges and hardships of being a future heir to the British royal throne, Deadline reports.
“We’re so excited to bring the world Gary’s created on Instagram over to HBO Max, where our viewers can discover what his Instagram fans already know – that George can be hilarious, shocking, and surprisingly sweet,” Sarah Aubrey, head of original content at HBO Max, said. “We can’t wait to see what Gary does with a bigger canvas to paint on than just a 1:1 square.”
This is the second project HBO Max is working with Janetti on —a series titled Brad and Gary Go To…, with Janetti and his husband, celebrity stylist Brad Goreski is set to begin production this year.
