Deadline reported that Sarah Snook, star of Succession, wants the film industry to “set a precedent” regarding the new rules with artificial intelligence. When speaking to the BBC, Snook said that, “If we can set a precedent for other industries in regard to how AI is utilized, then that’ll be huge.”
Snook elaborated on the use of artificial intelligence, stating that, “It’s such uncharted landscape. We need stringent rules in place, in order to protect not just the acting industry, but across the board, via Deadline.
“Imagine a company owning your image, your voice, creating propaganda. There are no words to describe how important this is right now to attend to,” she continued, “All the deep fake stuff that’s readily available is terrifying. The guy who does the Tom Cruise videos is uncanny.”
According to Deadline, Snook also expressed her support of the SAG-AFTRA strike, revealing that being able to take time off from work has helped her deal with success she had with Succession. Although, when she was asked if she missed playing her character on Succession, Snook said, “No, she’s nothing like me. A lot of fun to play, but happy to put her on the shelf, let it go.”
Succession, says IMDB, follows “The Roy family is known for controlling the biggest media and entertainment company in the world. However, their world changes when their father steps down from the company.”
The show had a total of four seasons and has won thirteen Emmys, as well as Outstanding Drama Series. It is currently nominated once again for the 2023 Emmys.
Deadline stated that Snook will also appear as all 26 characters in The Picture of Dorian Gray next year. The story reportedly follows “a young man who has a portrait painted of him. The portrait ages while he does not.”
