According to Deadline, actress Sarah Paulson (Ratched, Run) teased the possibility of returning to the American Horror Story franchise. While appearing on Good Morning America, Paulson expressed excitement for her newest endeavors but took some time to reflect on her time with the franchise.
Paulson is no stranger to the American Horror Story anthology, taking up a recurring role in 2011’s Murder House installment via Deadline. After first appearing in the show, Paulson remained staple actress in many installments thereafter. These appearances included Asylum in 2012, Coven in 2013, Freak Show in 2014, Hotel in 2015, Roanoke in 2016, Cult in 2017 and Apocalypse in 2018. Paulson’s inclusion has been absent in recent seasons, such as 1984 in 2019, NYC in 2022 and Delicate in 2023, per Deadline.
During her promotional interview for the Hulu original Hold Your Breath, Paulson was asked by interviewer Robin Roberts (The Great War, Pitch Perfect 2) if she sees herself returning to American Horror Story in the future. With a hopeful response, Paulson had the following to say: “I think there is a big chance that I will return to American Horror Story. I’ve got everything crossed. I would like to do it more than anything. It’s my home. It’s where I started.”
Paulson elaborated on why the franchise is so special to her, saying, “I got to play, you know, seven different characters in seven years, which as an actor is the most exciting, thrilling thing, and also allows an audience to be ready for anything you’re going to do because they’re not attached to one thing that you do, specifically. That has given me a lot of career flexibility” via the interview.
Paulson concluded her interview by adding that returning would allow her to keep working with her favorite people, saying, “If I could be reunited with Evan Peters and Ryan Murphy, you can pretty much tell me what time I will be there, and I will be there.”
