Sarah Paulson Joins Ryan Murphy’s ‘Feud’ as Geraldine Page

Sarah Paulson is re-teaming with Ryan Murphy for his FX drama Feud, about the rift between Joan Crawford and Bette Davis, and will play Oscar-winner Geraldine Page in the anthology.

Paulson, who is nominated for her role as Marcia Clark in The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story and a star of American Horror Story, will star as Page, who was nominated for eight Oscars and won one for her role in The Trip to Bountiful. Page also won two Emmys and was a four-time Tony nominee.

The rivalry between Joan Crawford and Bette Davis happened during the making of the the film What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? (1962). At the time, the rivalry between the two made headlines and generated more talk than the film itself.

American Horror Story alum Jessica Lange will also regroup with Murphy and star as Crawford, with Susan Sarandon starring as Davis. The pilot is loosely base on the script Best Actress by Jaffe Cohen and Michael Zam, purchased by Murphy, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Alfred Molina will co-star as the film’s director, Robert Aldrich; Stanley Tucci is to play studio leviathan Jack Warner; Judy Davis will play gossip columnist Hedda Hopper; and Dominic Burgess is to play Victor Buono, Crawford and Davis’ co-star,. Catherine Zeta-Jones will play Olivia de Havilland.

With Sarandon, Zeta-Jones, and Paulson in the mix, Feud will feature three Oscar-winning actresses playing three Oscar-winning actresses.

Murphy will direct several episodes and serve as executive producer alongside Brad Pitt and Dede Gardner. Lange and Sarandon also will be given producer credit. Production begins this fall for a 2017 premiere on FX.
