Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters’ Characters Revealed for ‘American Horror Story: Cult’

It is no secret that American Horror Story: Cult is inspired by the 2016 presidential election. What some viewers may be surprised to learn is that the seventh installment of the series will include an epic love story between the season’s two main characters. Ryan Murphy, the creator of the series, even went so far to say that the romance is “a love story for the ages,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.

During a Q&A on Murphy’s personal Twitter account on Thursday, the creator revealed short answers that reveal many points in the upcoming season. Murphy confirmed that his frequent collaborators Sarah Paulson will star as Ally and Evan Peters will star as Kai. Ally and Kai will reportedly be the couple that share an epic love story. Cult is promised to be Peters’ “his heaviest season yet.” In response to a fan’s question asking for more of Peters in the upcoming season, Murphy responded, “More Evan you will get.”

While things will probably get hot and heavy between Paulson and Peters’ characters on the show, this will not be the first time the two have been intimate on the franchise. On the sixth season, titled American Horror Story: Roanoke, the two played actors that fall in love on set. Due to both of the actors long histories on the series, the relationship was inevitable and exciting for long time fans.

Murphy spoke with The Hollywood Reporter back in February about his excitement for the latest American Horror Story installment. “What I’m interested in doing is not just the obvious, single-minded point of view but rather express all sides of that equation,” he said. “What needs to happen in our country now is for people to listen to each other – we may not always agree with each other and we may be horrified by what the other side is doing but we have to move toward understanding.” At the time of the interview he was in the process of developing story lines “about illuminating and highlighting people who don’t have a voice in our culture — people who are ignored by the current administration and who are afraid and feel terrorized that their lives are going to be taken away.”

Paulson and Peters will be joined by American Horror Story newcomers Lena Dunham, Billie Lourd, Billy Eichner, Leslie Grossman and Colton Haynes. Veterans to the show that are confirmed to appear in the upcoming season are Adina Porter, Cheyenne Jackson, Frances Conroy and Mare Winningham.
