As reported by Deadline, Sarah Jessica Parker (Sex and the City, Hocus Pocus, Failure to Launch) has been chosen to receive the 2026 Carol Burnett Award, the Golden Globes’ signature lifetime achievement honor for excellence in television. The ceremony will take place on the Golden Eve primetime special on January 8, just before the main January 11 broadcast on CBS and Paramount+.
According to Deadline, Golden Globes President Helen Hoehne (Tina, Fightville) commended Parker’s breadth of work while pointing to the timing of the award announcement within the organization’s yearly deadlines. Hoehne said, “Sarah Jessica Parker’s career embodies the very spirit of the Carol Burnett Award. Her trailblazing impact on television and her dedication to storytelling across stage and screen have left an indelible mark on popular culture.”
Deadline notes that Parker’s entertainment career spans multiple decades and began long before the current awards-season deadlines became fixtures. Her early television work included roles on Square Pegs and A Year in the Life, followed by a breakout performance as Carrie Bradshaw in HBO’s Sex and the City and later And Just Like That…. Her body of work also includes film appearances in The First Wives Club and Did You Hear About the Morgans?.
Per Deadline, Parker reunited with longtime co-stars Kristin Davis (Holiday in the Wild, Couples Retreat) and Cynthia Nixon (Ratched, Warm Springs) for the three-season And Just Like That…, which concluded this past August, timed to meet the network’s production deadlines. Parker additionally led HBO’s Divorce and appeared in titles such as Ed Wood, Mars Attacks!, and Striking Distance.
Finally, Deadline has confirmed that Nikki Glaser (FBoy Island, Not Safe with Nikki Glaser) will host the 83rd Golden Globes on January 11, the final broadcast deadline for this awards season. CBS and Paramount+ will once again collaborate with Dick Clark Productions on the event.
