According to Variety, Danish actress Sandra Yi Sencindiver (The Wheel Of Time, Geek Girl) is set to appear in Noah Hawley’s (Fargo, Legion) FX’s upcoming untitled Alien series. Not much is known about the series, but it is set to serve as a prequel to Prometheus.
“I think that especially the fans who love films No. 1 [Ridley Scott’s Alien] and 2 [James Cameron’s Aliens] will be very pleased with the universe and the world-building in this reimagining,” Sencindiver told Variety. “A lot of brilliant people, a lot of very interesting character actors [who are] very dedicated and, of course, Noah Hawley is just a brilliant storyteller.”
Variety reports that the show will be set on Earth and chronicle the foundation of the Weyland Yutani corporation, which plays a crucial role in each of the Alien films. Another element the series will chronicle is the search to create android life. Sencindiver says that the character she is set to play is named Yatani.
“I can’t say anything more than that, other than it’s been very exciting and interesting to play this character,” she said. “And I also think it’s a pleasure that nobody has played that character before. That’s also great for me, that I get to set the bar for what this character is. We’ll be pleased — the old fans of the original movies.”
The series production is still ongoing and filming is expected to wrap this summer. The series is still in production, and filming is expected to wrap up this summer. Variety reports that Sencindiver thinks that post-production for the series would take a while due to it being a sci-fi series. While no release date has been set, she said we may see the series in 2025.
