Behind the debauchery, violence, and sheer ridiculousness that makes Archer so terribly good lies the cornerstone of the shows success; a phenomenal voice cast. It’s not simply about how well done and recognizable each characters voice is but also the dialogue between them, how well they argue and interject on one another and how well each member portrays specific emotions with each line their given. The cast has this synergy that turns a great script into a nonstop showcase of energy and comedy. According to Comicbook.com, San Diego Comic-Con is now offering the opportunity to watch the entire voice cast of Archer give a live performance of an episode while on board a yacht, a setting that perfectly captures Archer’s spoiled and luxury craving persona, in a special one-night only performance entitled Archer Live!
The event is set for July 21 and will take place at the dock behind the San Diego Convention Center aboard the Inspiration Hornblower yacht. The entire affair should feel like a soiree straight put of Archer, including live entertainment (no word on a Kenny Loggins performance yet) drinks, food, giveaways, fan interactions from the entire cast, and of course the live episode performance.
H. Jon Benjamin, Aisha Tyler, Jessica Walter, Judy Greer (Cheryl Tunt), Chris Parnell (Cyril Figgis), Amber Nash (Pam Poovey), and Lucky Yates (Krieger) have all been confirmed for the event, and creator/executive producer Adam Reed (Ray Gillette) along with executive producer Matt Thompson will be on board as well. This awesome experience is being sponsored by the cloud-based live TV service PlayStation™Vue.
Comic-Con has also announced a large portion of its scheduled panels. So far, TV giants like The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, The Big Bang Theory, and The Flash, and several more have been confirmed, with more expected to be announced and maybe even a few surprises. If your going to Comic-Con, make sure you keep up to date with the schedule to make sure you don’t miss out on something big or your favorite shows.
For fans of the series who will not get the chance to attend there is one thing to look forward to. FX has renewed Archer for another three seasons, ensuring the gang of semi-competent, semi-elite spies and office workers will be around to to blow more things up and get into even worse situations.
