Samuel L. Jackson and Ryan Reynolds to Star in Animated Comedy Series ‘Futha Mucka’ on Quibi

Samuel L. Jackson (Shaft) and Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool) will come together again to star in a new animated comedy series ‘Futha Mucka’ on Quibi, as reported by Variety. The two actors, who also starred together in The Hitman’s Bodyguard, will be executive producers on the show.

Here’s the shows rather peculiar logline as seen via Variety:

“Samuel L. Jackson and Ryan Reynolds love each other. More accurately, Ryan loves Sam. When asked for comment on his feelings for Ryan, Sam said ‘tell them I couldn’t be reached for comment.’ When a minor mishap causes Same to become Ryan’s primary caregiver, sh*t gets weird. Tyan is delighted to spend all of his time with Sam. Sam couldn’t be reached for comment.”

The show is being produced by the company Anonymous Content, along with Reynolds’ own Maximum Effort, and the Emmy-award winning animation company Titmouse (The Midnight Gospel, Big Mouth).

Futha Mucka is created by writers Jim and Brian Kehoe (Blockers), who will also executive produce the show alongside Jackson and Reynolds. Other executive producers include Nina Soriano (Bonding), Charlie Scully (The Sound of Silence), Patrick Gooing (Gifted), Chris Prynoski (Niko and the Sword of Light), Shannon Prynoksi (Big Mouth), George Dewey of Maximum Effort Productions, and Ben Kalina of Titmouse.

As mentioned previously, both Reynolds and Jackson starred in The Hitman’s Bodyguard together and it currently has a sequel is in the works entitled The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard. It was originally slated to come out this year but was unfortunately delayed last minute due to complications caused by the events of COVID-19. The movie is now expected to drop sometime in 2021.

Jackson is represented by Anonymous Content and ICM Partners. Reynolds is repped by WME, and the Kehoe’s by Anonymous Content and Paradigm.

Quibi is a short-form mobile video platform that launched in April of this year. The company currently offers two subscription plans: $4.99 with ads or $7.99 without ads.
