The new Walking Dead anthology, Tales of the Walking Dead, continues to expand at AMC. The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that TWD alumni Samantha Morton (Harlots, The Serpent Queen) will be returning for an episode of the spin-off. Morton is known for playing Alpha in seasons nine and ten of the flagship series.
Alpha, an antagonist of season nine and ten, is a leader of a group of survivors known as The Whisperers, a mysterious group that uses the skins of Walkers to hide their appearance. Plot details on her episode is being kept under wraps, according to THR.
Tales of the Walking Dead will be an episodic anthology series that will feature both new and existing characters from The Walking Dead universe. The series was ordered back in October, and it will be the third TWD spin-off following Fear the Walking Dead and The Walking Dead: World Beyond. A fourth spin-off, titled Isle of the Dead is in the works.
Morton is the first returning cast member to be confirmed for Tales. Casting for the series was announced earlier this year, with Terry Crews (The Expendables, White Chicks), Parker Posey (Lost in Space, High Fidelity), Jillian Bell (Rough Night, 22 Jump Street), Anthony Edwards (Inventing Anna, WeCrashed), Poppy Liu (Sunnyside, Hacks), Olivia Munn (Booksmart, X-Men: Apocalypse), Danny Ramirez (The Flacon and the Winter Soldier, On My Block), and more set to star.
The flagship series is currently on its eleventh and final season, which is split into three parts.Tales of the Walking Dead will premiere this summer on AMC.
