The FX long-running horror anthology series, American Horror Story, has given its first tease for its tenth installment’s setting. Ryan Murphy (Glee, Hollywood) has teased a beach setting for the tenth season of his horror program, according to Deadline and the showrunner’s Instagram. Yesterday, it was reported that this tenth installment will be delayed to 2021 due to the halting of production during this COVID-19 pandemic. Complimenting other previous seasons, the show has begun to release small hints revolving around the impending season’s new narrative.
In the caption of this recent Instagram post from Murphy, he presents a “Clue” for American Horror Story tenth season to the series’ large fanbase. The post depicts a sandy beach and an open ocean along with a downed fence within its dunes. Social media went ablaze with guesses of mermaids, an addition to the television monster genre with an homage to Jaws, and even some throwaway guesses of an AHS version of Jersey Shore. Although the still image does not reveal information about the cast or plot, Murphy’s tease has once more given fans a puzzle to try and connect before the release of the season ten’s first trailer. An example of this past behavior was a mysterious image of a house in a field with crows flying out of the roof in the pattern of six. This past tease symbolized the arrival of the show’s sixth installment Roanoke which followed supernatural cult occurrences during the blood moon in a wooded region of America.
Despite this hint from Murphy, American Horror Story season ten’s plot will remain under wraps per usual until the release of its first full-length trailer. However, the show has previously announced the addition of Macaulay Culkin (Home Alone) to this season, as well as returning stars to the series such as Evan Peters (Kick-Ass), Sarah Paulson (Carol), Leslie Grossman (What I Like About You), Billie Lourd (Booksmart), Adina Porter (True Blood), Angelica Ross (Pose), Finn Wittrock (The Big Short), Lily Rabe (The Whispers), and Kathy Bates (Misery).
