American Horror Story fans are one step closer to uncovering the mystery that is season ten thanks to series creator Ryan Murphy (The Prom) sharing a photo on Instagram of Leslie Grossman (What I Like About You) and Macaulay Culkin (Home Alone) on set, via TVline. Dressed to the nines for a day at the beach, this is the first look Murphy has offered of the highly anticipated newcomer Culkin and AHS alumni Grossman in character.
Notoriously tight-lipped about upcoming seasons of American Horror Story, Murphy wrote sinister caption accompanying the picture: “Something wicked this way comes. American Horror Story Season Ten.” Grossman and Culkin definitely look up to no good, posing in a menacing fashion on the shores of a beach cloaked in furs and shades. The location is shared as Provincetown, Massachusetts, which had previously been confirmed as the setting for season ten.

The setting for season ten is one of the few details that’s already been revealed, but this first glimpse of cast members in character is a potential major clue into what the upcoming season’s theme may be. Along with the newly released image from set, Murphy has previously shared some frightening official posters for season 10 which include bloody lipped smiles and sharp, jagged teeth. Due to those posters and the season’s location, many fans suspect the theme to be of some wild aquatic monster.
Along with Grossman and Culkin, the upcoming season of American Horror Story features many household names from the series. It will co-star Sarah Paulson (Ratched), Evan Peters (WandaVision), Adina Porter (True Blood), Lily Rabe (Tell Me Your Secrets), Billie Lourd (Scream Queens), Angelica Ross (Pose), Frances Conroy (Six Feet Under), and Finn Wittrock (Ratched).
Season ten of American Horror Story has already hit several road blocks due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Originally set to film during the summer of 2020, production was halted. The tenth installment then began shooting in October of 2020, with an expected release date sometime in 2021. In the meantime, fans can go wild with theories of what the upcoming season’s theme may be.
Additionally, Murphy is working on an FX spin-off anthology series entitled American Horror Stories. Each episode will tell new horror story with a different set of characters. The first season will contain sixteen, hour-long installments. No release date for the series has been announced as of yet.
