Only two episodes of the newest season of The Mandalorian have been released and the audience has already seen the return of many beloved characters. According to rumors via Comicbook, some of the characters that have been introduced in the third season of The Mandalorian might have a bigger role to play in the new Star Wars show, Skeleton Crew.
According to Comicbook, in the first episode of the season “Chapter 17 – The Apostate” the audience is introduced to a group of pirates, including Gorian Shard, who is rumored to be one of the antagonists in Skeleton Crew. The rumor also says that the pirate Vane, who has a confrontation with Greef Karga, played by Carl Weather (Predator, Rocky), in Nevarro is also involved in Skeleton Crew.
Bespin Bulletin have said that their sources claim the pirates that showed up on The Mandalorian will be the main antagonists of Skeleton Crew, including Gorian Shard being major enemy in the show. There are still many episodes left in the latest season of The Mandalorian, so the pirates may show up again. In case they don’t show up again this season, their brief appearance has been enough to establish their presence and backgrounds before their appearance in Skeleton Crew.
This wouldn’t be the first time The Mandalorian is used to introduce characters before letting them have their own shows. The second season of Mandalorian saw the appearance of Boba Fett and Ahsoka Tano in small roles before the release of The Book of Boba Fett. These brief introductions of their characters helped fans know where these characters stood before their individual stories started. It also served as an introduction to the characters for newer fans of Star Wars.
Not a lot of details have been released about Skeleton Crew. The show has been described as a story set in the New Republic era which will follow “a group of kids lost in the Star Wars galaxy trying to find their way home.”
At the moment, these rumors haven’t been confirmed by either Lucasfilm or Disney. No release date has been announced for Skeleton Crew yet. New episodes of The Mandalorian premiere every Wednesday on Disney+.
