Many rumors have circulated on why Ruby Rose (Orange Is the New Black) exited from the Batwoman series on The CW. The actor spoke out on why they abruptly exited from the series.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Rose spoke out on their Instagram story where they claimed that they were forced to leave Batwoman after the first season. They also alleged that they were forced to work 10 days after surgery, and the working conditions were unsafe which led to members of the crew sustaining serious injuries. Rose had to undergo surgery for an injury they sustained in a stunt accident.
“I will come for you so what happened to me never happens to another person again,” Rose wrote, via The Hollywood Reporter, addressing showrunner Caroline Dries (Smallville), executive producers Greg Berlanti (You) and Sarah Schechter (Pan), and the CW. “And so I can finally take back my life and the truth. Shame on you.”
To the fans, they wrote, “[…] I wouldn’t return for any amount of money nor if a gun were to my head … NOR DID I QUIT. I DID NOT QUIT, they ruined Kate Kane and they destroyed Batwoman, not me. I followed orders, and if I wanted to stay I was going to have to sign my rights away. Any threats, any bullying tactics or blackmail would not make me stand down.”
According to Deadline, Warner Bros. released a statement in regards to Rose’s statements.
Warner Bros., the studio behind Batwoman, said that Rose’s statements were “revisionist” history. According to Deadline, the studio confirmed Rose’s claim of being fired from Batwoman. However, they decided to cut them due to multiple complaints about workplace behavior. Investigations on Rose’s behavior on the Batwoman set had long been rumored, and it was confirmed today by the statement.
