Apple TV and A+E Studios have just announced new cast members for the new upcoming untitled series. According to Deadline, Rory Culkin joins the already series regulars Liev Schreiber (Caught Stealing, Splinter Cell: DeathWatch), Zazie Beetz (The Bad Guys 2, The Dutchman), Stephen Graham (The Immortal Man, The Last Ferry), and Bill Camp (12 Years a Slave, The Burial). The untitled story is based on Lars Kepler’s (Hunter, Stalker) crime novels. Kepler is a bestselling author with over 18 million copies sold globally.
According to a mxdwn article, the show tells a story of an ex-soldier who turns into a homicide detective. Jonah Lynn, played by Schreiber, who is from the tough streets of Philadelphia, decides to move to a small rural town in the western part of the state in search of a quiet life. To much of Lynn’s surprise, he finds himself under attack by a serial killer, Jurek Walter (Graham), as he tries to protect himself and his family. The entanglement continues when Lynn’s daughter, Beetz’s FBI agent Saga Bauer, becomes a target of Walter. Bill Camp will play Ellison, Chief of Police.
Deadline lists Culkin’s role as Karl, a nervous staff member at a psychiatric institution, where he’s tasked with caring for one of the most dangerous patients.
According to Deadline, Rowan Joffe (Locked in, The Informer) and John Hlavin (Blood Drive, Donkey Punch) will co-showrun and executive produce along with Tim Van Patten (Chief of War, Catacombs). The show is set to start production this summer in Pittsburgh.
Culkin is no stranger to TV and film. According to Deadline, his notable TV credits include Netflix’s Black Mirror, Prime Video’s Swarm, and Hulu’s true crime drama, Under the Banner of Heaven, which received an Emmy nomination. Culkin also received the Gotham Award nomination for his performance in the film Gabriel.
