After a history of long production periods in between seasons, Comicbook.com writes that Prime Video’s successful animated series adaptation of the Invincible comic books of the same name is returning for a fourth season, and that it could be released sooner than fans think. Series creator Robert Kirkman (The Walking Dead, Fear the Walking Dead) says production on the fourth season has gone incredibly smoothly, smoothly enough to where he even has an update on the recently announced fifth season of the superhero series.
In an interview with Collider via Comicbook.com, Kirkman notes that Invincible‘s fourth season could come as soon as 2026. “We’re doing ADR for Season Four,” he said. “We’re getting final animation, and our team is tweaking things. We’re doing ADR to finalize the dialogue and wrap these episodes. We’re in the process of wrapping Season Four so that it can be released next year.”
Comicbook.com writes that the showrunner says that some episodes are “all buttoned up and done,” while others “are in very rough shape that we’re getting to in the pipeline.”
While there is no official release date for the fourth season, Comicbook.com predicts that the new season could drop as early as February or March of 2026 if everything continues going as smoothly as Kirkman says.
Furthermore, Kirkman even says that the fifth season is already in production. “Then Season Five, we’re doing animatics based on the voice records,” he said to Collider via Comicbook.com. “We’re mostly wrapped on voice records. There are a couple of little bits and things to get, and finalizing designs for those episodes and stuff. It’s a pretty fun process. We’re knee-deep in it and working on multiple seasons at once, and it’s very hectic.”
What the future holds for Invincible beyond the fifth season is unclear, but Comicbook.com writes that Robert Kirkman assured fans that the fifth season will not be the last. “We’ll be around for a while,” Kirkman said. “It’s not looking like Season Five is the last season. If Season Five is the last season, something went horribly wrong.”
