According to Electronic Urban Report, TV One has renewed docu-series Rickey Smiley For Real. As suggested by the title, the docu-series centers on Rickey Smiley, a nationally syndicated radio personality, host, and stand-up comedian. The hour-long series takes a comical look at his life as he tries to balance his career, single fatherhood, and personal life. The second season will show Smiley focusing more on the three F’s: Fun, Family, and Focus.
Brad Siegel, TV One’s President stated “Rickey’s unmatched sense of humor, business savvy and passion for his family resonated well with our audience.” Adding “We are thrilled to team up with Rickey and both his real family and radio show family for another season of real life turmoil and love.”
Additionally, the second season of the docu-series will show Smiley enjoying the fruits of his labor. After too many years of struggling with juggling the responsibilities of his large and unconventional family, along with growing and pushing himself in his career, Smiley is determined to be more conscious of his own needs.
Instead of seeing Smiley investing his time into his Dish Nation Show, viewers will see the comedian take a trip to the Bahamas, tour with Mike Epps, collaborate with R&B icon Kelly Price, and celebrate his 15th college fraternity anniversary. The second season will also show Smiley doing his best to keep his kids on the right track as he is worried that his success may be affecting his family. Brandon, Malik and Craig challenge Smiley as they try finding themselves and landing in several behavioral, disciplinary, and legal issues. But as always, Smiley will keep a close eye on his daughters D’Essence and Aaryn as they encounter their own growing pains.
In regards to the docu-series, Smiley said the reality show “is already showing signs of being even bigger and better than our stupendous season one. I am hugely thankful to the viewers for their support and excited about TV One’s dedication to bringing a quality second season to our viewers. Thank you all for allowing my family inside your homes every Tuesday night!”
