Season 5 of Arrow will return with another vigilante entering the fray in Star City.
According to Entertainment Weekly, actor Rick Gonzalez has been added to the upcoming season of the CW’s Arrow as Wild Dog from DC Comics. Gonzalez, who has appeared in films such as Coach Carter and more recently in USA Network’s hit drama-thriller Mr. Robot, will be playing a version of Wild Dog, originally from the 1987 comic of the same name, who is described as a reckless and cocky vigilante. Due to his presence in Star City and the commotion he is causing, Green Arrow, played by Stephen Amell, takes it upon himself to recruit Wild Dog and attempts to tame him in order to better serve the city.
This news comes on the heels of the recent Season 4 Finale of Arrow, which has left some fans wondering about the quality of the content and what is to come. After 92 episodes worth of content, it is difficult to appease fans who have been along since the shows premiere and garner new fans with exciting and fresh content. Additionally, the show has seen the loss of several members of Team Arrow and the audience of several fans of those characters. With Thea Queen, John Diggle, and Quentin Lance all leaving Team Arrow, fans of the show are left with a rather unsubstantial team.
Regardless of criticism, Season 4 of arrow received the highest viewership the show has seen since its premiere in 2012, as reported by ComicBook. With season 6 confirmed for the 2016-2017 season, according to Cinema Blend, fans can only wait and see how well Gonzalez and the rest of Team Arrow hold the show down. Season 3 of The Flash has also been confirmed, providing DC fans with plenty of content to satisfy their comic book hero needs.
Gonzalez joins fellow actor Echo Kellum as a series regular for the new season. Kellum first made an appearance in season 4 of Arrow and is officially confirmed to reprise his role in the series as stated by Entertainment Weekly.
