‘Rick and Morty: The Anime’ Receives Japanese Dub Trailer Ahead Of Series Premiere This August

The wait is almost over; Rick and Morty: The Anime is set to premiere on Adult Swim in August 2024, according to Comicbook.com. The new series will debut in English and Japanese dubbed versions. Adult Swim is finally previewing a trailer for the Japanese version, which is available to watch below.

Comicbook.com revealed that the Japanese version will air at midnight on Saturday, August 17, through Adult Swim’s programming block Toonami. The English version will premiere two days before the Japanese version, on Thursday, August 15.

The English voice cast consists of Gabriel Regojo (Made in Abyss, Devils Line) as Morty, Joe Daniels (Shikizakura, Assassins Pride) as both Rick and Jerry, Patricia Duran (Assassins Pride, Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?) as Beth and Donna Bella Litton (Ragna Crimson, Reincarnated as a Sword) as Summer, via Comicbook.com. The Japanese version will feature the talents of Keisuke Chiba as Morty (Rick and Morty vs. Genocider, Summer Meets God), Youhei Tadano (Megalo Box, Street Fighter V) as Rick, Takako Fuji (The Grudge, Princess Mononoke) as Beth, Manabu Muraji (Howl’s Moving Castle, Hoshi no Samidare) as Jerry and Akiha Matsui (Solo Leveling, Pokémon Horizons: The Series) as Summer.

Rick and Morty: The Anime is a spinoff of the original animated series Rick and Morty. According to mxdwn, the series “originated from a group of animated shorts that premiered during commercial breaks between episodes of the original show. The limited run of animated shorts gained enough popularity among fans that Adult Swim greenlit a full series spin-off.”

Additionally, “the anime will be written and directed by Takashi Sano (Tower of God), who handled the anime shorts “Rick and Morty vs. Genocider” and “Summer Meets God” for the Telecom Anime Festival, and it will consist of ten episodes,” reported mxdwn

With fans curious as to what the new series will entail, Rick and Morty: The Anime will play off the original series’ use of the multiverse. The official synopsis promises: “Rick relaxes in a pseudo-world between multiverses, Summer helps Space Beth fight the evil Galactic Federation, and Morty falls in love with a mysterious girl who happens to be an atemporal being” via mxdwn

According to mxdwn, the series received a promotional tour following its first episode preview at San Diego ComicCon, leaving fans anticipating the full series premiere. Releasing earlier in the year than originally estimated, Adult Swim will bring Rick and Morty: The Anime to fans this August.
